Women In Horticulture Luncheon

Please Note: Registration is closed.
If you are still interested in attending, please contact CNGA and you will be added to a wait list. Should there be an opening for you to attend, you will be notified on a first come-first served basis.

Please join us for our annual tradition of recognizing women in the green industry.

You'll be treated with a wonderful plated lunch accompanied by wine and the 'not-to-be-missed' chocolate mousse. There will be gifts for all as well as door prizes & networking with your peers & friends.

Lunch will be followed by an intriguing presentation on forensic botany: "Grave Consequences - Solving Crime with Botany." Obviously you think plants are cool, but did you know that they could help investigators solve crimes?

Come hear our luncheon speakers, Cheryl Strouse and Pam Smith, talk about the world of forensic botany and how plants have been used to solve some high profile cold cases.

Luncheon Speakers:

Crystal Strouse

Crystal is a botanist, forensic botanist and restoration ecologist. She has over 25 years of botanical experience and regularly teaches plant identification classes and lectures at conferences. She has worked for the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas Department for 27 years and has served as the State President of the Colorado Native Plant Society. She is currently a Native Plant Master Instructor with CSU Extension. She has been a member of NecroSearch International since 2010 where she volunteers her time assisting law enforcement on criminal cases that include botanical evidence. She has worked on cases in the U.S. and Russia and taught a forensic botany training attended by law enforcement agencies and the F.B.I.

  Pam Smith

Pam Smith is a field botanist and ecologist and has been with the Colorado Natural Heritage Program for ten years. She has 30+ years of conducting botanical and ecological research that includes botanical surveys for rare plants, wetland condition assessments, wetland delineations, noxious weed monitoring and management, and preparing noxious weed management plans. Her volunteer efforts include 10 years as a CSU Extension Native Plant Master instructor, guest instructor for the City of Fort Collins Master Naturalist Program, past President of the Colorado Native Plant Society Northern Chapter, and 10 years as a forensic botanist with NecroSearch International.
